About Our bacteria dip slide test kit

Contents of the Bacteria dip slide test kit

  • GNAT MX2 Dipslide Incubator (2 dipslide capacity)
  • 20 BTM2 Dipslides (2 boxes).

About the Bacteria dipslide kit

The BTM2 dipslides test for aerobic bacteria and yeasts and moulds (fungi). They have nutrient agar on one side and Malt Extract on the other. They also contain red spot dye which makes it easier to interpret results. These are general use slides and can be used for a large variety of applications.

The GNAT MX2 incubator can incubate up to 2 dipslides at a time. It has a pre-set temperature of 30 degrees Celsius and after a short time of stabilisation (15-20 minutes), can be used straightaway.

This kit is at a special price that offers the buyer a significant saving over buying the items separately. This kit is convenient and is suitable for those that want to try the slides without buying a large volume.

Includes comparison / analysis chart for interpreting results.

How to use the bacteria test kit

Remove BTM2 slide from tube

Step 1 : Remove slide

Carefully remove the sterile BTM2 dip slide from its tube ensuring that no contact is made with the agar (to avoid contamination).

Surface testing

Step 2 : If Surface Testing

For surface testing, press the BTM2 dipslide onto the surface. If needed, place a finger on the bottom of the slide (on the plastic, not the agar) to apply extra pressure.

Liquid Testing

Step 2 : If liquid testing

For liquid testing, immerse the BTM2 dipslide into the fluid for 10 seconds then remove and allow to drain for a few seconds.

Swab Testing

Step 2 : If swab testing

Apply a sample of the test substance to a sterile swab and gently apply to the agars.

Incubate the dipslide

Step 3 : Incubate Slide

Label the tube with the included stickers then place the slide into an incubator and allow to incubate.

compare dipslide results

Step 4 : Compare results

Count the amount of colonies that have grown on the slide and compare them to the comparison chart provided.

Customer Questions

Q

HI, I see this is pre-set to 30.0 degrees c. Can it go up to 37.0. c to test for bacteria more likely to be pathogenic?

A

Hello, The Temperature is pre-set in this particular incubator. We can have this made to order to use a higher temperature up to 37 Degrees C. Please contact us via e-mail before placing an order so we can advise on any additional lead time.

Q

Hi, does the gnat mx2 come with a 220v adapter option for use in Australia?

A

I can confirm the MX2 is a 12V unit and comes with an adapter for all international power supplies and will work in Australia.

Q

I am located in Dubai, UAE. I'm interested in purchasing a Bacteria Dip Slide Test Kit. What is the best and fastest way to order kits? Do you have an office in Middle east?

A

Hello, The quickest way to order/receive our products is to place the order via our website using a credit/debit card. This item is dispatched the next working day and should be with you using DHL within 3-7 working days.

Q

Which is the Shelf life of the dipslides? how many time I have to use all of the 20 dipslides?

A

These dipslides usually have a minimum of 6 month's shelf life (maximum of 8). However, contact us if you wish to know the exact expiry date.

Q

If I want a temperature of 37ºC it is possible to get an dipslide incubator for this temperature?

A

This can be arranged but there would be an additional lead time on the production of the incubator (approx 4 weeks). Please note that the dipslides included in this kit only require 30ºC to incubate. An MX10 may be better suited as this has a variable temperature dial.

Q

Hello and Good morning, Could you tell me if the cosmetic dip slides are the same as the bacteria dip slides on offer?

A

Hello, No, these are different slides (with different agars). The cosmetic dipslides kit can be found at https://dip-slides.com/kits/83-cosmetics-bacteria-yeasts-moulds-test-kit.html. (priced the same but with cosmetic dipslides). If you need any additional information, please let us know.

Q

Hi, May i know if the incubator is really required for the test? What if i proceed the test by placing the tube in room area at ambient temperature? Is there any diff?

A

Yes, an incubator is required as a constant temperature of 30 Degrees C is needed to incubate the slides. Without an incubator, the slide would likely provide inaccurate results or fail to develop (the bacteria / yeasts / moulds need a constant 30C temperature to thrive and show on the agar).
