About Our ttc nutrient + ttc nutrient dipslides (box of 10)

Bacteria testing dipslides with nutrient agar & TTC (red spot dye). The agar (culture media) on this dipslide contains red spot dye which helps the user view and count colonies as they grow as red spots. Nutrient agar will detect / show growth for a wide range of bacteria /  non fastidious organisms. Due to nutrient agar being able to cultivate such a wide variety of micro organisms, it is used in many industries. Applications range from classroom use to water, metalworking fluid and cooling water applications. This general use dipslide offers a total bacteria count (TVC) on both sides.

To use the BT2 dipslide, you can either dip the slide into your sample, swab onto the dipslide or press the slide against a surface. Once your sample has been transferred onto the dipslide, you then incubate the dipslide. After incubation, you can then count the colonies / spots and compare with the chart provided. A step by step pictorial guide can be found below.

The pack size of this product is 10 dipslides per box. The slide has a flexible paddle and is within a shatterproof container. Compatible incubators for this dipslide can be found here: Dipslide Incubators

How to use the BT2 dipslide

Simply remove the dipslide and immerse in (or press against) the sample for approx 10 seconds. Remove dipslide and allow to drain (if necessary) for a few seconds, then replace the slide back into the tube and incubate for a minimum of 24 hours (up to a maximum of 48 hours).

A comparison chart is included so you can easily compare your results.

Remove Nutrient TTC slide from tube

Step 1 : Remove slide

Carefully remove the sterile Nutrient TTC dip slide from its tube ensuring that no contact is made with the agar (to avoid contamination).

Surface testing

Step 2 : If Surface Testing

For surface testing, press the Nutrient TTC dipslide onto the surface. If needed, place a finger on the bottom of the slide (on the plastic, not the agar) to apply extra pressure.

Liquid Testing

Step 2 : If liquid testing

For liquid testing, immerse the Nutrient TTC dipslide into the fluid for 10 seconds then remove and allow to drain for a few seconds.

Swab Testing

Step 2 : If swab testing

Apply a sample of the test substance to a sterile swab and gently apply to the agars.

Incubate the dipslide

Step 3 : Incubate Slide

Label the tube with the included stickers then place the slide into an incubator and allow to incubate.

compare dipslide results

Step 4 : Compare results

Count the amount of colonies that have grown on the slide and compare them to the comparison chart provided.

Customer Questions

Q

Do you have to use incubator for this product? If your your room temp is already 21 degrees C.

A

Yes. The dip slide will need a constant 30 - 35 degrees C temperature for incubation. A room would vary in temperature and in turn can cause inaccurate results.

Q

I want to know expiration date

A

Hello, the expiry date is displayed under the buy not button above

Q

Do you have a dip slide test kit for machine oils ... ? We have an oil which is used as a coolant, and it is recirculated around a grinding system indefinitely. It is not an emulsion.

A

Hello, We would suggest the metal cutting fluid test kit at https://dip-slides.com/30-kits.

Q

What is a TTC dipslide?

A

TTC refers to the dye Triphenyl tetrazolium chloride, sometimes called Red Spot Dye. Bacteria present in a sample reacts with and reduces the TTC dye to produce a red colouration. This means that the bacteria colonies appear as red spots. These red spots make it easier to view and count the amount of colonies on the dipslide.
