Premium Metal Cutting Fluid Bacteria & pH Tester Kit
RED SPOT DYE
This kit includes what you need to meet the weekly testing guidelines in the HSE MW5 documentation for MWF. These weekly tests include:
Dipslide tests (for bacteria, yeasts and moulds). |
|
pH tests. |
|
Temperature Tests. |
|
Fluid Concentration tests (choose to add a refractometer to include this test). |
|
Method to record all test results for any HSE inspection. |
Full colour photographic manual with record sheets - essential for recording your results & showing proof of your fluid quality monitoring.
Record sheets also indicate the recommended levels for each test which can help the user analyse whether their results are within HSE guidelines.
Each of the required tests is documented in detail with colour images of each step allowing anyone to perform the test without prior training.
Our Metal cutting test kits are trusted by thousands of companies all over the UK to comply with HSE MW5. Inside the kit, you will find :
- 1 X Incubator (to incubate the dipslides).
- 20 X MCBTM2 dipslides (to test for bacteria / yeasts and moulds).
- 1 X DualTest Pro Tester (to test the fluid's pH and temperature.
- 1 X ph Buffer solution (to calibrate the DualTest Pro).
- 2 X A5 Comparison Charts (full colour).
- 1 X User manual with step by step guides and recording charts.
- 1 X Refractometer (optional extra : To measure your fluid's concentration).
By default, the kit comes with a professional 8 dipslide capacity incubator (to test up to up to 8 machines at once). No set up is required for this incubator. This can be upgraded to a 25 or 45 dipslide incubator (using the dropdown at the top of the page). This allows the kit to be customised to suit your company's needs.
The 8 slide incubator is pre-configured to the optimal temperature for MCBTM2 dipslides (30℃) and features a durable lid helping to retain the heat (resulting in minimal running costs).
The Metal Cutting Fluid (MCBTM2) dipslides test the cutting fluid for bacteria and yeasts / moulds. Regular microbiological testing of metal cutting fluids is very important. High levels of bacterial contamination will degrade the quality of the fluid and will become a health risk. Contamination can also cause the pH level to lower to acidic levels.
There are 2 boxes of MCBTM2 dipslides in this kit (20 dipslides). To test your metal cutting fluid using these dipslides, carefully dip the slide within the fluid and immerse fully then replace the slide within its tube. You will then need to incubate the slides and once incubated, compare results with the comparison chart provided to evaluate if contamination is present.
Additional MCBTM2 dipslides can be purchased via our site.
The waterproof, battery powered DualTest Pro Tester can quickly check and digitally display your MWF fluid's pH and Temperature. No separate tests are required since the device tests both at the same time. It has a full 0 to 14.0 pH range with auto calibration and a 0 to 50 °C (32 to 122 °F) temperature range.
Testing the pH of metal cutting fluid can indicate whether levels are corrosive. Low pH levels can be caused by the presence of bacteria. This is why using dipslides and a pH tester together gives a fuller indication of the 'health' and quality of your cutting fluid.
Ideally, you do not want your cutting fluid to have a lower pH than approx 8.5 as any fluid that is too acidic will corrode metals. However, you don't want a pH level that is too high as it can pose a risk to health (e.g. skin irritation).
In accordance with the MW5 HSE regulation, you are now required to monitor the temperature of your MWF. MWF Temperature will need to be tested weekly with your results recorded either via the included record manual or via our Excel record sheet (free with any purchase). The operating temperature will need to be monitored as higher temperatures (30 degrees C+) support the growth of bacteria, yeasts and moulds. Depending on the type of MWF you use, other factors can be affected by the temperature including fluid concentration, consistency and performance. You may wish to check with your MWF supplier as to what temperature range is appropriate for the specific fluid that you are using.
A Refractometer can be added to the kit if you wish to purchase one (these are not included by default as many companies already have one). A refractometer can be used to test the concentration of industrial / metal cutting fluids.
Testing the concentration is important as having a high or low concentration can contribute to adverse health effects, ineffective lubrication, machine breakages and bacterial contamination. It is also a requirement to comply with HSE MW5. Please choose from the dropdown if you would like to add a refractometer to your kit.
