These TTP Dipslides feature two different agars (prepared culture media), one on each side of the dipslide. The agars on this dipslide are:

TSA (Tryptone Soya) TTC Agar - A general purpose total count agar that promotes growth of a wide variety of organisms. This allows for an evaluation of the 'general health' of your sample. This agar includes TTC red spot dye. Most colonies will appear as red spots, making the colonies easier to view and count.

Pseudomonas CFC Agar - This agar assists in the detection of all pseudomonas species. It is often used in closed circuit water systems as well as clinical, swimming pool, cosmetic and environmental applications.

This TTP dipslide tests for total count bacteria / organisms on one side and a Pseudomonas count on the other side. If your sample contains bacteria, colonies will grow on the dipslide agar.

The TTP dipslide comes in a pack size of 10 slides per box. The slide has a flexible paddle and is within a shatterproof container. 

Will Pseudomonas aeruginosa grow on this dipslide?

Yes, p.aeruginosa will grow on the pseudomonas side of this dipslide. Growth will appear as straw coloured colonies with green pigmentation.

What is the difference between TTP dipslides and TP dipslides?

Both TTP and TP dipslides feature TSA on one side and Pseudomonas CFC agar on the other side. The only difference is that the TTP dipslides contain TTC red spot dye on the TSA side. This means that most colonies on the TSA side will appear as red dots.

How do I use the TTP dipslides?

In Liquids

Simply remove the dipslide and immerse in the sample for approx 10 seconds. Remove dipslide and allow to drain for a few seconds, then replace the slide back into the tube and incubate for a minimum of 24 hours (up to a maximum of 48 hours).

Surface testing

Remove the Dipslide from the container and press against the surface for approx 10 seconds. Replace the slide back into the tub and incubate for a minimum of 24 hours (up to a maximum of 48 hours).

A comparison chart is included so you can easily compare your results.

Step 1 : Remove slide

Carefully remove the sterile TSA TTC / Pseudomonas dip slide from its tube ensuring that no contact is made with the agar (to avoid contamination).

Step 2 : If Surface Testing

For surface testing, press the TSA TTC / Pseudomonas dipslide onto the surface. If needed, place a finger on the bottom of the slide (on the plastic, not the agar) to apply extra pressure.

Step 2 : If liquid testing

For liquid testing, immerse the TSA TTC / Pseudomonas dipslide into the fluid for 10 seconds then remove and allow to drain for a few seconds.

Step 2 : If swab testing

Apply a sample of the test substance to a sterile swab and gently apply to the agars.

Step 3 : Incubate Slide

Label the tube with the included stickers then place the slide into an incubator and allow to incubate.

Step 4 : Compare results

Count the amount of colonies that have grown on the slide and compare them to the comparison chart provided.
